Question by deenerik: What is the fastest (most powerful) laptop currently on the market?
My current laptop is just chugging and I need something faster. It is an HP nc6000 with Intel Pentium M processor 725 – 1.6GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 400MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) and Intel 855PM Chipset. It has 1024-MB of (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM and a 60-GB (5400 rpm) hard drive.
I am looking to get something as powerful as I can so that when new programs come out, it will be able to handle them (such as windows Vista). I currently use it for programming (Oracle), as well as the standard MS Office and Internet use.

Get the 17″ MacBook Pro, with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo. And, it’s only one inch thin.
Unbelievably fast, incredibly beautiful. Only a Mac.
Plus, it runs Windows

definately get a macbook or macbook pro. infact, i’m using one now. i have a 2.16 GHz 15″ MacBook Pro, 1G RAM, and 667MHz front-side bus, oh, and i have windows xp professional installed on it and mac os x. it’s awesome. (except windows sucks…lol)
if u looking for speed, dont even both looking at the macs. xD
i dunno about OEM laptops but if u want customized ones, alienware got some of teh fastest ones out there. ^_^ their fastest laptop come with a 64bit turion clocking at 2.4ghz. also come with geforce go 7900gtx sli, and 2 gb ram
ThinkPads are great. Best laptops that I have ever seen. They can get as expensive as you want them to. Get a fast processor and lots of RAM.
I thought I heard that the Mac Intels were still a little buggy.
Yes, the 17″ Mac Book Pro is very fast and powerful, but only a donkey or a traveling salesman will want to carry one. Might as well carry a desk top.
A lap top above 14″ is not acceptable for general use. Dell have gone over from 14″ to 15″and 17″ and now cannot sell them. I could have told them, but the idiots never asked me.
This is kind of a redundant question…computer systems are entirely customizable and upgradable. However, the MacBook Pro is the most popular new power laptop right now.
